Description:
Doxofylline is a novel xanthine derivative used in the treatment of patients with Asthma and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). Doxofylline has bronchodilator, antitussive and anti-inflammatory properties with an improved therapeutic window over conventional xanthines (e.g; theophylline). Doxofylline possesses less affinity for A1 and A2 adenosine receptors and also doesn’t antagonize calcium channels which ultimately reduces the CVS and CNS side effects including heart rate, sleep rhythm, etc.
